OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 19, 2012) - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, announced the reappointment of Mr. Normand Rivard to the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for a three-year term, effective January 15, 2013.
"I am very pleased that Mr. Rivard has accepted a reappointment to the Canada Industrial Relations Board," said Minister Raitt. "The Board will continue to benefit from his extensive knowledge and labour relations experiences."
Mr. Rivard has been a full-time member of the Canada Industrial Relations Board, serving as an employee representative since 2007. Prior to joining the Board, he served in various senior union positions with the Industrial Wood and Allied Workers of Canada (I.W.A.), including national Vice-President and President. He was also chairman of the Steelworkers-I.W.A. Council.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal. Its mandate is to interpret and to apply the provisions of Part I of the Canada Labour Code.
