Minister Raitt Speaks at the Economic Club of Canada

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 2, 2012) - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, today spoke to attendees at an Economic Club of Canada luncheon. Minister Raitt discussed the economy and current labour challenges and initiatives.

"The Government remains focused on stimulating the Canadian economy by creating and maintaining jobs," said Minister Raitt "Productive and stable workplaces drive our economy and create economic growth."

The Economic Club of Canada provides forums that feature experts discussing their views on the current economic issues facing the country and the world.

The Labour Program develops, administers and enforces workplace legislation and regulations, such as the Canada Labour Code. These laws cover industrial relations, health and safety, and employment standards, and apply to federally regulated workers and employers.
