Minister of State Bernier Highlights Communitech Hub's Success in Promoting Ontario's Digital Media Industry

KITCHENER, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 5, 2011) - Today, the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), toured the Communitech Hub in Kitchener and met with stakeholders who are contributing to the growth of Ontario's digital media industry.

"The government declared 2011 the Year of the Entrepreneur to help increase public awareness of the important role played by small businesses," said Minister of State Bernier. "Innovative spaces like the Communitech Hub help keep small businesses and entrepreneurs on the leading edge of digital media, which is critical to driving Canada's economy and economic recovery forward."

Launched in October 2010, the Communitech Hub brings entrepreneurs, multinational companies and academic institutions together under one roof and encourages networking and resource sharing among its tenants. By providing mentorship for smaller start-ups, sowing the seeds for strategic partnerships and helping commercialize media ideas, the Hub is proving to be an invaluable resource for local small businesses working in digital media.

The Government of Canada encourages all small businesses to continue offering innovative products, with a goal of creating jobs and sustaining Canada's high standard of living. In support of small business growth, the government is lowering the small business tax rate, reducing the regulatory burden and ensuring that companies have the tools they need to succeed.
