Minister of State Goodyear Showcases Canada's S&T Achievements to International Decision Makers


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 7, 2012) - The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology) continues to highlight Canada's achievements in encouraging partnerships among government, academic and business sectors and fostering innovation during his visit to Japan for the ninth Science and Technology in Society Forum in Kyoto, Japan. The Minister of State will have the opportunity to address the Forum's delegates from 80 countries tomorrow.

"Fostering partnerships remains central to our Government's science and technology strategy," said Minister of State Goodyear. "Our Government is committed to enhancing innovation domestically and connecting Canada to research being conducted around the world."

During his trip, the Minister of State will also participate in meetings with government, academic and business representatives. He will promote higher-education partnerships and showcase the Harper Government's approaches to science and technology.

Minister of State Goodyear will also meet with officials from Japanese automotive and aerospace sectors. He will tour research-intensive facilities where leading technologies are currently being developed.
