The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today met with a group of Veterans from the Québec City area who have been getting together for breakfast at the Galeries de la Capitale for more than 10 years. The Minister, accompanied by the former mayor of Québec City and former Lieutenant-Governor of the province, the Honourable Gilles Lamontagne, took time to meet and chat with the former soldiers.

"It is always a pleasure for me to meet with Veterans and hear about their experiences as they served our great country. These men and women made history; they are everyday heroes with many stories to tell," said Minister Blaney. "By attending events like this, our Government is listening to our Veterans and ensuring they receive the care and support they need."

Veterans of the Second World War and the Korean War, as well as Canadian Forces Veterans, get together for breakfast once a week to share their stories and experiences.

"The Veterans who gather here each week to talk and share their experiences know it is not good to stay at home alone," said Mr. Lamontagne. "I am glad Minister Blaney was able to join us."
