Minister Strahl Announces Extension of Appointment of CWB President and Chief Executive Officer

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 16, 2007) - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, today announced that the appointment of Greg Arason as interim President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) will be extended until a President and CEO is selected and appointed.

Mr. Arason was President and CEO of the CWB between 1998 and 2002 and prior to that was CEO of Manitoba Pool Elevators.

Canada's New Government is committed to providing Western grain farmers with a choice in how they market their grain, while continuing to preserve a strong, viable, yet voluntary CWB.
