Minister Strahl Rejects Wrongful Allegations From Liberal MP Wayne Easter About the Barley Vote

This is sent on behalf of Conrad Bellehumeur, Director of Communications for Minister Strahl.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 23, 2007) - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, today issued the following statement regarding allegations made by Liberal MP Wayne Easter about the voting process in the government's plebiscite on marketing choice for barley.

"I am disappointed that Mr. Easter would call into question the integrity of KPMG, the internationally recognized professional services firm that was selected to run the barley plebiscite. The Liberals will do or say anything to deny farmers the freedom to choose how they market their grain."
