Minister Toews Commends Canadians' Response to Tropical Storm Irene

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 29, 2011) - Today, the Honourable Minister of Public Safety, Vic Toews made the following statement regarding the effects of Tropical Storm Irene:

"I would like to commend the residents of Quebec and Atlantic Canada for their resilience during Tropical Storm Irene, and applaud them for their preparedness in facing the first hurricane threat of the season," said Minister Toews. I would also like to commend the state of readiness of first responders at the municipal and provincial levels to assist the public in preparing for the anticipated weather conditions, and for their work in restoring those areas affected by the storm.
