Minister Toews' Statement on Expanded "Wanted by the CBSA" List

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 23, 2012) - The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, provided the following statement on the addition of new names to Canada Border Services Agency's "Wanted by the CBSA list", which has helped locate individuals wanted for removal from Canada.

Five individuals were added to the "Wanted by the CBSA" list today, bringing the current total number of individuals profiled to more than 100.

"The 'Wanted by the CBSA' list was launched in July 2011, and it has been a very effective tool in locating individuals wanted for removal from Canada," stated Minister Toews. "With the help of this list, CBSA officials have located 27 individuals in Canada, including an additional five located abroad. To date, 19 individuals have been removed from Canada. Our government is committed to locating and removing individuals who threaten the safety of our citizens and communities. With the assistance of Canadians, we will continue to send the message to those who try to evade justice that Canada offers no safe haven to those who abuse of our laws."
