Ministers Peter Penashue and Pierre Moreau Hold First Bilateral Meeting

First meeting sets a tone for a strong and constructive relationship

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 6, 2011) - The Honourable Peter Penashue, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada, today met with Mr. Pierre Moreau, Quebec's Minister responsible for Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs and the Canadian Francophonie, and Minister responsible for the Reform of Democratic Institutions and Access to Information.

This first meeting builds on the ministers' commitment to discuss issues of importance to Canada and Quebec. Like his provincial colleague, Minister Penashue expressed a desire to maintain a constructive dialogue between the two governments.

"I was pleased to meet with Minister Moreau and discuss issues affecting our governments. Minister Moreau and I had a constructive meeting, which will help us to collaborate effectively in managing files of common interest."

Minister Moreau said that this first bilateral meeting confirms the good relationship shared between the Government of Quebec and the Government of Canada.
