Miss California USA® Gets Makeover

New California Directors Announce Unprecedented $350,000 Talent Agency Prize

LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 31, 2005 -- K2 Productions and Miss California USA announced today that The Morgan Agency in Hollywood will be awarding the winner of Miss California USA 2006 a $250,000 contract. In addition, Miss California Teen USA 2006 will receive a $100,000 contract. Both agreements will cover representation for work in TV, film, modeling, commercials, and public appearances. Combined, they represent the largest contracts ever awarded by any state in the Miss USA family.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," says Keylee Sanders-Hochberg, co-executive director of K2 Productions, Inc., the event's producers. Sanders-Hochberg was Miss Teen USA 1995 and is the only current state director in the USA system who is also a national titleholder. "I wish there was something like this when I entered," she continued. "This is a phenomenal chance to showcase our winners and ensure that Miss California USA enters a whole new era where contestants become high-profile celebrities ready to take on Los Angeles, New York, and even the world. I'm thrilled that K2 was able to secure this phenomenal opportunity for the young women of our great state."

Sanders-Hochberg, along with K2, are revamping the event as a chance for models and actors along with undiscovered talent to gain a solid footing in the world of fashion and entertainment. "We feel California is the most diverse and picturesque state in the US, and we wanted to make sure that the beautiful participants in this outstanding event are justly rewarded by gracing red carpets and standing center stage throughout our industry," says Keith Lewis of The Morgan Agency. Lewis, who has judged over 30 events within the Miss Universe Organization, has an unmatched eye for distinctive talent. His clients can be seen in advertisements for Gucci, as well as in the pages of Vanity Fair and GQ. The Morgan Agency also represents film and television actors appearing on such shows as "ER," "CSI:," "Strong Medicine," "American Dreams" and "The Gilmore Girls," along with films including "The Terminal" and "The Princess Diaries 2."

With this contract in place, K2 Productions, Inc. and The Morgan Agency are primed to transform the respected 50-year event tradition into one of the largest and most lucrative entertainment opportunities for young women all over California. In addition to receiving the prize package, winners will go on to represent California at the Miss USA or Miss Teen USA national event. Participation is open to all qualified California residents between the ages of fourteen and twenty-six.
