The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) is assisting the Greater Manchester Police in England in investigating the disappearance of two young children. Khalid and Ahmed Abubaker, now aged 6 and 4 years old, were last seen on April 9, 2010 when they travelled by coach to Amsterdam with their mother, Anisa Ibrahim. The boys' father, Abdul Abubaker, has been desperately searching for them ever since.

It is known that Anisa took the boys from Amsterdam to Frankfurt, Germany, where they boarded a plane to Toronto arriving on April 13, 2010. Anisa has relatives in the Toronto area, and also in the United States in the Minnesota and Ohio areas. Their exact whereabouts are not known at this time, however it is believed they may still be in the Toronto and may be connecting with the Somalian community in that region.

Anisa is wanted by police for breaching a family court order and acting unlawfully by abducting the boys. There is a history of concern for the boys' safety, and the Child Protection unit in England has been involved with the children in the past. Authorities also note that Khalid has a severe skin condition which requires medical attention.

MCSC was contacted by the Greater Manchester Police to request assistance in locating Khalid and Ahmed as soon as possible. MCSC has been also working closely with the Toronto Fugitive Squad which will be working this case in the Toronto region and throughout Ontario. MCSC is issuing a Child Search Alerttoday to all media in the Toronto area, as well as pushing a notification to all users of the Poynt app in Toronto and in St. Cloud, Minnesota and Columbus, Ohio. This will mark the first ever use of the innovative Poynt push system into the US.

"We have been working tirelessly to find Anisa and the boys since April last year," said Detective Inspector Kevin Marriott, based at South Manchester CID. "Inquiries now lead us to believe that she may be in Toronto and we need the public's help to take this investigation further."

"I am appealing to the Somalian community to come forward with any information on the whereabouts of the children and Anisa."

The children's father, Abdul Abubakar, has not seen his children for over a year and a half, and not knowing their whereabouts is causing him extreme distress and anxiety. "I appeal to Anisa, please contact the authorities wherever you are with the children so I can at least know they are okay," expressed Mr. Abubakar.

Anyone with information can contact MCSC confidentially through their 24-hour toll-free TIP line at 1- 800-661-6160 or by email at tips@mcsc.ca. The public can also contact the Toronto Fugitive Squad at 1-416-808-5930, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to provide confidential information on this case and inquire about their reward program.
