MissionHUB Offers MasterCard a Campus for Corporate Social Good

Impact Hub San Francisco Welcomes Masters of Code Global Hackathon, Amplifying Corporate Social Responsibility

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 20, 2015) - MissionHUB, a network of Impact Hub coworking campuses in San Francisco, Berkeley, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., and the Social Capital Markets Conference (SOCAP) for impact investing, offers MasterCard a campus for corporate social good. This Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 22-23, Impact Hub San Francisco will host MasterCard Masters of Code™, where Silicon Valley's best developers and entrepreneurs compete for seed funding, startup mentoring, Priceless® experiences and a $100,000 grand prize.

Sponsored and hosted by MasterCard and organized by AngelHack, the Masters of Code series features regional weekend-long events that bring together the world's top developers, designers and entrepreneurs to take on the APIs supplied by MasterCard. Competitors will focus on ways to increase social good by leveraging MasterCard's Simplify Commerce API to build apps aimed at improving communities via social networks and their global reach. Examples of these apps could include fundraising, event management or donation of goods.

"Social good is based on the belief that innovation and technology can intersect to build solutions that improve the world," said Sebastien Taveau, Chief Developer Evangelist, MasterCard Open API. "MasterCard has opened its technology to do just that: encourage independent and enterprise developers from across the globe to identify the ways to better their communities using MasterCard APIs that fit today's app and device-driven world."

"As demand for corporate social responsibility rises, major corporations engage," said Eryc Branham, CEO of MissionHUB. "In addition to working with MasterCard Masters of Code, our recent developments include co-hosting Google.org's Bay Area Impact Challenge, which funds 25 social enterprises with $2.5 million, and offers collaborative space at Impact Hub," Eryc says. "We are also working with Herman Miller to support its Earthright goals, achieving Zero Waste by 2023 and develop their pipeline of values-aligned small businesses. We are thrilled to support Fortune 500 companies in amplifying their social good programs."

The event will also feature an esteemed panel of judges who will choose the winning team based on their innovation's impact, design, creativity, simplicity and best usage of MasterCard's APIs. The judging panel will include:

Jean-Louis Gassée, General Partner at Allegis Capital, active blogger and former Apple executive, will deliver the keynote address and discuss the opportunity -- and ability -- entrepreneurs and developers have to drive social change through app development, highlighting the importance of innovation with the intention to improve the lives of others.

The San Francisco winning team will receive free membership in the Impact Hub San Francisco campus and will have the chance to compete against master coders from the other regions for the $100,000 USD Grand Prize. While in California, all winning regional teams will also be awarded a MasterCard Priceless® experience before the final event to ensure they are at their most relaxed and ready.
