Mississauga's Winning Combination: Mayor McCallion and City Manager Janice Baker Named Canada's Most Powerful Women

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 21, 2007) - Today Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion and City Manager and CAO Janice Baker were named 2007 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 by the Women's Executive Network (WXN) at ceremony held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

2007 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 awards honour the success and extraordinary accomplishments of Canadian women. Winners were selected by an independent advisory board in eight categories: Corporate Executives, Entrepreneurs, Public Sector Leaders, Trailblazers & Trendsetters, Champions, Professionals, Future Leaders and Arts & Communications.

Mayor McCallion was awarded a Trailblazers and Trendsetters award. This category recognizes 15 women who broke new ground or traditional barriers in pursuit of a goal; they were rated on the impact of their contribution to Canadian society.

Janice Baker was awarded a Public Sector Leader award. This category recognizes 10 women who hold the most senior positions in Canada's largest public sector organizations. Nominees were selected from federal government departments, provincial ministries and universities, municipalities, hospitals and regional health authorities.
