Matt Hill wins Juvenile title Attention: Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor WOODSTOCK--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 11, 2005) - Mitchell Fox of Okotoks, Alta. shot an inspired final-round 69 at Craigowan Golf and Country Club to win the 2005 Canadian Junior Boys Championship, conducted by the Royal Canadian Golf Association.

The 17-year old Fox held off the top junior golfers in Canada to stay consistently low throughout all four rounds. Fox stayed out of the spotlight and forced a final-round push for the top. The straight faced Fox finished the tournament at seven-under-par 277, four-shots ahead of his nearest competitor.

"I was enjoying not being in the spotlight and not having my name mentioned, so it was perfect," said Fox, who recently played in the U.S. Junior Amateur at Longmeadow Country Club in Massachusetts, finishing 15th in medal play. "It's probably my one goal, to win this before my junior career is over…I almost didn't want to putt out because I didn't want the round to be over."

Fox's next goal is a strong finish at next week's Canadian Amateur Championship at Bell Bay Golf Club in Baddeck, N.S.

Matt Hill of Brights Grove, Ont. finished with a three-under-par tournament-total 281 to capture the Juvenile crown and was the overall runner-up.

"I've had a few good finishes this year but this is probably the best I've played," said Hill, who is from the same small-town as Mike Weir who also has his name engraved on the Canadian Juvenile trophy. "I just wanted to stay near the top and have a solid round ... I was thinking of winning the Juvenile title a little bit."

Cam Burke tied with 36-hole leader Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. both with tournament-totals of two-under-par 282 to finish in third. Up and coming golf sensations Richard Lee of Vancouver and Eugene Wong of North Vancouver finished tied for fifth at one-under-par 283.

In the juvenile division 14-year old Lee and 15-year old Wong tied for the runner-up position, just two-shots back of Hill with Dong Su of Richmond, B.C. finishing fourth at even-par 284.

The 2006 Canadian Junior Boys Championship will be held at Sussex Golf and Curling Club in Sussex, N.B.
