Mitel Extends Security Credentials With JITC Certification

Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform meets critical security interoperability requirements

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 10, 2009) - Mitel®, the trusted provider of unified communications, has achieved Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification, one of the highest levels of security accreditation granted by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), for the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP).

JITC tests and certifies technology for the armed services and government. As a result of meeting all critical interoperability requirements, the 3300 ICP is added to the DoD's Unified Capabilities Approved Product List and is certified for use within the Defense Switched Network.

"Mitel is committed to providing secure unified communications solutions, for both business and government customers, a commitment that is demonstrated by this JITC certification," says Don Smith, Mitel's chief executive officer. "JITC certification means the 3300 ICP can be used to provide secure communications for the defense network and enable end-to-end operational effectiveness for these organizations and their partners."

JITC certification is mandatory for all voice networking equipment connecting to the Defense Switched Network. The certification ensures products are secure, operate optimally in a multi-vendor environment, meet exacting levels of performance under duress, and offer other unique features and functionality required for national security.

The Mitel 3300 ICP is designed to provide IP communications capabilities to businesses and organizations from 10 - 65,000 users through easy to use interfaces on a wide variety of telephony and computing devices. It provides advanced unified communications with wide area network and mobile connectivity and, through open standard interfaces, integrates seamlessly into business processes and associated applications.
