Mobclix Appoints Industry Veterans From Twitter, OpenX, Jaiku and AlwaysOn to Its Advisory Board

Advisors Bring Advertising and Mobile Experience to Drive Business Development and Enhance Marketer and Developer Offerings

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - August 31, 2010) -  Mobclix ( today announced the company's advisory board, which now includes Michael Abbott, James Bilefield, Jyri Engeström and Tony Perkins. The new advisors -- hailing from Twitter, OpenX, Jaiku and AlwaysOn respectively -- will provide strategic counsel to help the industry's largest mobile ad exchange expand globally across multiple mobile ecosystems.

"Having followed Mobclix's growth over these last two years, I have been impressed with how the company has developed its mobile ad exchange by providing developers more transparency and advancing audience engagement for advertisers," said former OpenX CEO and Mobclix advisor James Bilefield. "Being at the forefront of technology and media convergence, Mobclix will continue to push boundaries as people change the way they find and consume news and information."

Mobile advertising is expected to reach new milestones this year. According to eMarketer, the revenue generated from ad units being sold on mobile phones alone will increase from $416 million in 2009 to $593 million in 2010. This 43 percent increase shows that brand managers and advertisers are extending their ad buys from online to mobile.

"By adding new talent to the team, Mobclix will continue to enhance the technology behind our ad exchange while we expand our business globally," said Krishna Subramanian, co-founder of Mobclix. "Ultimately, everything we do ties back to our end goals -- maximizing monetization opportunities for our developers by giving them access to more demand sources and improving our offerings to marketers looking to increase mobile campaign performance."

  • Michael Abbott, vice president of engineering at Twitter, will help Mobclix remain at the forefront of mobile monetization. Currently, mobile data continues to drive the decision-making processes for mobile marketers. He will help shape the way mobile publishers think about monetization opportunities by helping Mobclix build a global mobile business.

  • Jyri Engeström sits on the advisory board as a former product manager at Google and co-founder of microblogging service Jaiku (acquired by Google). Drawing from his experience running Google's enterprise mobile and social infrastructures, he offers the technical guidance needed to help Mobclix improve the viral distribution of their developers' apps by creating ecosystems around each platform

  • Tony Perkins, founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of AlwaysOn and founder of Red Herring, offers his on-the-ground insight on the constantly changing media landscape. As "mobile" continues to expand beyond phones, his expertise as a media entrepreneur will be critical in helping Mobclix better serve publishers experimenting with new mediums.
