Mobile Couponing Company Moves to Cincinnati

CincyTech's $250,000 Investment Draws Second Chicago Startup

CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwire - March 14, 2011) - For the second time in 10 days, a CincyTech investment has persuaded a startup technology company from Chicago to continue its growth in Cincinnati.

Samplesaint has developed ways to make coupon use more effective on mobile phones for retailers and for coupon users. Consumers are able to redeem online coupons more easily because Samplesaint's technology allows the coupon to be scanned through a checkout system on any mobile device. In addition, the company has developed a database that ties in seamlessly to the retailer's point-of-service, allowing identification, redemption and expiration date of coupons to be immediately determined.

The investment -- $250,000 -- means the mobile couponing company will relocate to Cincinnati from Chicago this spring.

Samplesaint founder and CEO Lawrence Griffith is a native of Cincinnati, where he received his bachelor's degree from Xavier University. In 2004 he moved to Chicago and earned a master's of business administration from Loyola University. He has worked for branding agencies and corporate consumer packaged goods companies, including as a consultant to Procter & Gamble.

"With companies such as Procter, Kroger, Macy's and dunnhumby, Cincinnati is a hub of expertise about the consumer mindset," said Griffith. "Samplesaint looks forward to finding its place in that ecosystem."

CincyTech President Bob Coy said the market for mobile couponing is forecast to be at more than $6 billion within three years. And with more than 58 percent of mobile devices on the market already able to access the Web, Samplesaint has tremendous growth potential, he added.

On March 4, CincyTech announced that its investment of $250,000 would draw entrepreneurs Vincent Chou and Pratap Shergill from Chicago with their company, turboBOTZ, which created a digital retailing platform for second-hand video game buying and selling.
