Mobile Parenting Resource Mommy Nearest Acquires San Francisco-Based Slidelane as Part of Major Expansion to West Coast

New York-Based Mommy Nearest Opens West Coast Headquarters in Bay Area, Hires SF Editor

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - November 03, 2014) - Mommy Nearest (mommynearest.com) the company behind the fastest-growing geo-location mobile app for parents and caregivers in the United States, today announced its acquisition of San Francisco-based online parenting resource and small business marketing platform Slidelane (slidelane.com). Slidelane founders Sonali Perera and Ashita Trikha will head West Coast operations for Mommy Nearest as the company expands first to the Bay Area and then to Southern California later this year.

Combining national and local mobile parenting content with its proprietary geo-location technology (free for iPhone and Android), Mommy Nearest boasts over 150,000 users and provides unique content and geography-based, word-of-mouth recommendations to busy parents and caregivers, helping them to easily make informed decisions of where to take the kids while on-the-go. From the best dining options, broken down by child-specific amenities like high-chairs, stroller-friendliness and gluten free options, to nearby activities, or even where to change a diaper or pick up medicine, the app shows users the 50 closest places for whatever they're looking for. Those places are then rated and reviewed by other local parents, thus layering in a level of trust.

"Slidelane and Mommy Nearest share the same passion and commitment to helping moms navigate parenthood, which is why we're thrilled to join forces," said Perera and Trikha. "Together, we make a very strong national team that will concentrate on hyperlocal content, community and commerce for moms."

Perera has extensive experience in business development, finance, and mobile, having worked for Paypal, Yahoo!, and InMobi, while Trikha's has focused on product strategy, marketing and payments while working at Intuit, Wells Fargo, and IBM.

As part of the terms of the acquisition, which includes a mix of cash and Mommy Nearest stock, Mommy Nearest will leverage Slidelane's customer experience, local relationships, web platform and hyperlocal data to grow the business, which will now have a combined user base of more than 150,000 parents and caregivers nationwide. Perera and Trikha will work out of the West Coast office as the Heads of West Coast Operations and will work alongside Sunny Chanel, the company's newly-hired Bay Area editor of the Mommy Nearest magazine. Chanel has had extensive writing experience in the parenting realm, working for publications like Disney's Babble, Mom.me, Cafe Mom's The Stir and Fandango.

Mommy Nearest CEO Josh Milstein said, "As we looked to expand to the Bay Area, we were impressed by what Slidelane has accomplished in such a short period of time. Given Sonali and Ashita's respective backgrounds and proven track records, we are extremely confident in their abilities to ramp up Mommy Nearest on the West Coast. Our future focus for the combined company makes Mommy Nearest the ideal place for businesses looking to reach parents on their mobile devices."
