MobileEyes(TM) Fire Inspection Software Helps Growing Mississippi Community

TROY, MI -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 19, 2007 -- Instead of buying more filing cabinets to store an increasing number of fire inspection reports, the Mississippi town of Southaven has invested in software that allows them to collect and store fire inspection data in an easy-to-view electronic format. Located just south of Memphis, Southaven's fire department recently purchased and installed MobileEyes™ software, provided by TradeMaster, Inc.

Southaven is located in DeSoto County, one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. According to Southaven's Assistant Fire Marshal James Gentry, a reported seven families a day are moving into the county from Memphis and other areas. Largely a residential community, Southaven has a regional hospital, related medical facilities and a growing shopping district.

The fire department's new inspection software MobileEyes™ runs on a tablet PC and includes handwriting recognition capabilities that make note-taking as easy as writing on a yellow pad. It also includes the ability to easily access all the required fire inspection and building codes via the Internet.

"We can bring up these codes on-site and discuss them during the inspection, which has eliminated a lot of calls to the Fire Chief from people who might otherwise disagree," said Gentry. "We're also generating more readable and professional reports that can be printed on site or emailed immediately to the recipients."

He estimates that they are saving as much as 25 percent of their time that might otherwise be spent on back and forth trips to the office to look up codes, make copies, and revisit the site.

Because of Southaven's fast-paced growth, fire inspectors were previously concentrating their energies on new construction. With MobileEyes™, inspectors are conducting annual reviews as well.

Gentry credits Southaven's Mayor Greg Davis and the Board of Alderman, along with the Fire Chief, for having the vision to invest in a tool for the community that is eliminating "mountains of paperwork" and the need for more file cabinets.

"Now, we can maintain an easily accessible history of each building from the plan review forward," added Gentry.
