MobileMonday Toronto Participates in Global Summit, in Helsinki, Finland

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 9, 2010) -

Attention Business and Technology Editors

From September 26th-30th, the local chapters of MobileMonday converged upon Helsinki, Finland for the Global Summit – now in its 10th year of successful operation. MobileMonday Toronto was invited to participate and help plan the successful, continuous expansion of this successful 'open source' association. In attendance, founders from 100+ local chapters participated at this year's Summit with representation from North America, Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The Global Summit was split between Helsinki and Tallinn, Estonia, with participation from global brands Ericsson, Nokia, and Skype. "MobileMonday has become very successful based on a unique formula of local representation with a strong global brand. It is really the only mobile association offering that model, which presents unique partnership opportunities for developers and brands" says Alexander S. Bosika and Jim Brown, co-founders of MobileMonday Toronto. "Jari Tammisto and the rest of the global team have done a great job in growing the chapter base and attracting support from global companies that are aligned with the grass-roots belief of sharing mobile knowledge and business."

MobileMonday Toronto, now in its 5th year of operation, has experienced significant growth in terms of attendance at monthly events. In addition, with the launch of its new calendar for 2010-2011, sponsorship initiatives have led to dramatic interest and support for the large community platform that the chapter co-founders have helped create with the help of an extremely passionate and vibrant community in the Greater Toronto Area. "With long-standing support since the start from the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association, Marketwire and Dunedain Multimedia," says Alexander Bosika, co-founder, "we have been proud to announce many new sponsorship partners this season. For the past four months, while speaking to many potential stakeholders, the level of interest and commitment to support our efforts has been impressive. Since the start of this undertaking, our chapter has secured new financial support from Nokia, Miller Thomson LLP, Rogers Communications Inc., TELUS, Redknee, and BDC. We expect to announce additional sponsorships before the year closes."
