Mobilicity to Launch in Calgary in April

Unlimited Carrier Advises Calgarians Against Signing Wireless Contracts and Locking Into Country's Highest Rates

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - April 13, 2011) -

Editors Note: A photo for this release will be available via Marketwire on the picture wire of The Canadian Press.

Mobilicity today announced it will launch its reliable, unlimited 3.5G mobile network in Calgary on April 28th – marking the arrival of affordable unlimited talk, text and data plans for Calgarians.

"It's time Calgarians stopped paying among the highest wireless rates in Canada," said Mobilicity President and CEO Dave Dobbin. "A better alternative to Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless and Telus Mobility is on its way. Mobilicity provides reliable talk, text and data capabilities – without outrageous extra charges and fees that eat into people's savings."

Calgary consumers will be able to purchase popular name-brand Mobilicity phones (such as BlackBerry and Android smartphones) and plans at over 70 points of distribution, including corporate stores, exclusive Mobilicity dealers, national retailers and other non-exclusive dealers in every neighbourhood across the Greater Calgary Area, as well as online.

Affordable landline replacement

The rising carrier has been providing Canadians with affordable nationwide coverage with unlimited service areas for almost a year. Last spring Mobilicity launched in Toronto and in November, it debuted in Vancouver, Edmonton and Ottawa. The Calgary launch will mark the last of Mobilicity's current market roll outs.

Mobilicity applies the simple unlimited local usage principles of landline calling to mobile communications. "Pay a flat monthly fee and use the Mobilicity unlimited network when you want – without counting minutes or waiting for evenings or weekends," Dobbin explained.

Unlike other carriers, Mobilicity is able to ensure 100 percent bill certainty through its pay-in-advance model and unique My Wallet system for pay-per-use items.

Making global long distance easy

Mobilicity, whose name stems from the words 'mobile' and 'simplicity', will also introduce Calgary to innovative international long-distance offerings that make calling overseas friends and family affordable on the go.

Its Unlimited Asia add-on provides direct-dial, unlimited long distance to India, China, Hong Kong and Singapore for $20 a month with any Mobilicity talk plan. To make calling to countries, like the Philippines, Jamaica, Iraq, Pakistan and the United Kingdom more affordable, the company also offers Multi-Minute bundles and pay-per-use international long-distance rates that rival calling cards.
