Mobilisa Partners With Courthouse to Catch "Bad Guys"

Clermont County Courthouse First in the Nation to Use DEFENSE ID® System

BATAVIA, OH -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 25, 2007 --Mobilisa, an innovative wireless technology company, partners with the Clermont County, Ohio sheriff's office to use DEFENSE ID®, a hand-held device that can detect within a second whether someone's identification is valid. The Clermont County sheriff's office is the first law-enforcement agency in the nation to use the device. In a single day DEFENSE ID® stopped 7 people with outstanding bench warrants from entering the Courthouse.

"Our scanning device will provide law enforcement officers with access to real-time data to secure their facilities and protect their communities," said Nelson Ludlow, CEO of Mobilisa. "This is a low cost, enhanced security solution that achieves safety first while allowing officers to complete background checks in record speed."

Identification presented at the Clermont County Courthouse is scanned by Mobilisa's handheld device and checked against over 140 databases that include: "Person's of Interest" by law enforcement, FBI's Most Wanted list and National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

"We have used DEFENSE ID® in several of the DUI checkpoints in the county. In addition to stopping people with outstanding warrants, we're verifying that IDs are not fictitious," said Deputy Rob Cordes, Program Manager for the pilot project with the Sheriff's office. "It's a huge time saver compared to deputies typing information into a laptop computer in a patrol car to check out a suspect."

The device includes a digital camera, so deputies can photograph suspects, license plates, weapons or other items that might be used as evidence in court cases.

"Mobilisa gives us another edge, another tool we can use to ensure safety in the courthouse and get individuals off the street that need to be off the street," said Deputy Keith Schockman from Clermont County.

The DEFENSE ID® device is a ruggedized PDA that can withstand being dropped or exposed to rain. Battery life is eight hours and when recharged in a docking station the device can download the most recent information about fugitives or other offenders from Mobilisa's database.
