Mobixell Explores Economics of Mobile Data in Upcoming Webinar, "Rich Media Mobile Internet," Featuring Panel With Cisco and Yankee Group

Cisco, Yankee Group and Mobixell Executives to Provide Insight on Challenge Facing Wireless Carriers: Providing Smart Pipe for Mobile Broadband, Mobile Internet Access

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - May 18, 2010) - Mobixell Networks, a leading provider of rich media mobile internet and broadband solutions, today announced a free, live webinar for mobile operators and other industry professionals interested in the current challenges of mobile data management, specifically rich data such as video. The session entitled, "Rich Media Mobile Internet," addresses critical questions related to the challenges and opportunities caused by the mobile data explosion, the potential return on investment in rich-media mobile applications and new revenue streams born from these offerings. The webinar will be held Thursday, May 27 at 9 a.m. EDT (USA), 3 p.m. CET (Europe). Register here.

Wireless carriers face a huge surge in traffic volume from mobile Internet and mobile broadband, in particular video. The growing use of these applications raises questions that must be discussed and answered now in order to manage the challenges posed by rapid growth and fully realize its opportunities. One of the key questions webinar panelists will address is whether this rise in usage is positive or negative for wireless carriers. Are carriers doomed to be a wide pipe while others reap the revenues from the services consumed by wireless users on top of the Internet / broadband?

The one-hour webinar will be moderated by Mobixell Executive Vice President of Marketing Avichai Levy and will feature three speakers. Declan Lonergan, vice president of research for Yankee Group, will discuss operators' new mobile Internet challenges and opportunities. Cisco Vice President of Worldwide Mobile Solutions Wolfgang Weber will address the issues related to monetizing the mobile Internet. John Sims, Mobixell Networks board member and former CEO of 724 Solutions (recently acquired by Mobixell), will end the webinar with real-life examples from tier-one carriers.

During the webinar, attendees can expect to find answers to questions including:

  • What types of traffic do carriers face and what tools and measures can they take in order to turn this trend to their advantage?
  • How can mobile operators turn the mobile data explosion to their advantage by intelligently managing mobile data traffic?
  • What is the role of video in the usage patterns and the mobile Internet volumes?
  • Is it possible to monetize the mobile Internet?
  • How can operators retain and upgrade their position in the value chain?
  • What is the "right" infrastructure to support the mobile operators' Internet and broadband businesses?

The panel will also address attendees' questions during a question-and-answer period at the end of the webinar.
