Modern Cloth Diapers Challenge to Showcase Bloggers, Parents Ditching Disposables

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - April 02, 2015) - This week cloth diapers accessory brand Spray Pal together with leading industry brands announced a three-week, virtual cloth diapers challenge event, the #makeclothmainstreamchallenge. The challenge will culminate in time for Earth Day and for an annual live event in its fourth year, The Great Cloth Diaper Change.

Notable participants include Today Parents panelist Doyin Richards (Daddy Doin' Work blog), former Miss USA Ali Landry, lifestyle blogger Lindsey Bonnice (Live Sweet Photography) whose portraits featuring her daughter's pet pig "Pearl" have garnered worldwide praise, Miami 'Quad Mom' Ivanna Cardenas-Gutierrez, and CEO of Brooklyn-based Little Hip Squeaks baby apparel Amy Richardson-Golia, who are eager to learn what cloth diapering is all about.

"I have to be honest: I've always been curious to try cloth diapering but haven't been brave enough to take the plunge! This seems like the perfect time," exclaimed one blogger when invited to participate.

Following along from phones, tablets, and home computers are 'everyday moms and dads' who have also been curious, but maybe hesitant, to make the switch. Participants are in contact with industry leaders and experienced cloth diapering parents in a Facebook Group, "The Cloth Diaper Experiment." Sponsoring brand representatives will be available to provide personalized support as well as to offer opportunities to win prizes.

Even Jamie Grayson (TheBabyGuyNYC) is spreading the word. He's featured the #makeclothmainstream hash tag, making sure his followers know that Challenge sponsor Dirty Diaper Laundry is the place for parents to start their research: "I often refer to her as the 'me of cloth diapers' and I send EVERYONE to her for information. She is an incredible resource and has an ASTOUNDING amount of information over on her Facebook wall and her site," the popular social media personality and founder of Gearapalooza wrote on his Facebook Page.

Other headlining sponsors include US brands GroVia Modern Diapers and Thirsties, Inc., UK-based Tots Bots, Canadian AppleCheeks, accessory brands qdSpray, Logan + Lenora, Lassig USA, and popular parenting publication Green Child Magazine.

The goal of the challenge is to share how easy, fun, and flexible the switch from disposable diapers to cloth diapers can be, maybe to the surprise of today's parents. Disposable diapers are the third largest source of household waste in the US. The #makeclothmainstreamchallenge can help families eliminate this source of waste and save thousands of dollars while they do it. All parents of diaper-aged children are encouraged to join by visiting http://bit.ly/TheCDExperiment to find out how they can participate and win prizes!

Spray Pal is owned by Jennifer and Dave Aprea, parents of Ryan Aprea, whose giggle was heard 'round the world when a video of his reaction to his mother's voice following a cochlear implant procedure was picked up by news media.
