MOHELA Recognized for Innovative Mobile Application Development at 2013 Gateway to Innovation

Partner TDK Technologies Co-Developed Mobile Web to Enhance Borrower Access

ST LOUIS, MO--(Marketwired - May 1, 2013) - MOHELA leveraged innovative technology in its efforts to continually enhance and improve customer account management tools. MOHELA, a student loan servicing company which ranks in the top ten nationally by number of loans serviced, approached TDK Technologies with the need to provide customer access from mobile devices. The team's efforts won them the Small Business Innovation Award at the 2013 Gateway to Innovation. This award recognizes IT initiatives implemented in 2012 that enabled significant business innovation or improvement.

The team delivered improved self-service capabilities for MOHELA's customers, a better experience for younger end-users who primarily use cell phones for web activity, reduced inbound call volume and competitive advantage in the student loan servicing industry.

MOHELA wanted the mobile application developed in a way that would offer technical advantages such as accessibility by a variety of mobile devices. It also needed the complex mobile application brought to market in under four months. Most important, the application needed to provide security, maintainability, flexibility, usability and performance. The project resulted in significant business results and highly desired customer access capabilities. The mobile application currently averages daily activity including more than 1,000 logins and more than 200 online payments.
