Molson Breweries Turn Out Lights Across Canada for Earth Hour

Global Initiative Kicks off Brewer's Energy Conservation Awareness Program

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 27, 2008) - Molson, Canada's oldest brewer, is pleased to announce that all its Canadian facilities will turn-off non-essential lights on Saturday, March 29, from 8 to 9 p.m. (local time), in support of Earth Hour. This global initiative calls on individuals and businesses around the world to turn off their lights and show their support for taking action on climate change. Molson's participation in Earth Hour kicks off the brewer's Energy Conservation Awareness Program for 2008.

"Our participation in Earth Hour is one way of saying that energy conservation is an important issue for our company," says Daniel Pelland, Molson Chief Brewing Officer. "It symbolizes the efforts that we make every day at Molson to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and our environmental footprint," he adds.

Molson's Montreal brewery received the 2007 Leadership Award in the "Monitoring and tracking" category from the Canadian Industry Program for Energy Conservation (CIPEC). The award highlights the comprehensive energy-efficiency program implemented by the Montreal brewery as part of a strategy focused on operational excellence.

Similar energy-efficiency programs have also been implemented at all its Canadian facilities, resulting in substantial energy savings from coast-to-coast. Molson has set targets to reduce its overall energy use, indexed to production, by 5 percent this year.

"As we continue to improve our standards for energy and water conservation as well as waste reduction, we are also turning our attention to creating a company culture where environmental stewardship is a constant priority for all our employees," explains Pelland. "By raising awareness among our employees about the tangible impact of their actions, we give them the power to make a difference. It really drives our participation in initiatives like Earth Hour."

On April 28, Molson is also launching its very first Energy Efficiency Week in all its breweries across Canada. A complete programming of events, including guest speakers and volunteering activities with environmental organizations, will raise awareness among Molson's brewery employees on the importance to join in the collective effort to protect our planet's resources.

Molson's participation in Earth Hour and the Molson Energy Efficiency Week are all part of a larger ongoing Energy Conservation Program that will encourage Molson employees to change behaviors that waste energy and water, whether at work or at home.
