Molson Coors Canada Named One of Canada's Top 100 Employers

Prestigious award recognizes Canada's best places to work; aims to identify organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees

TORONTO, ONTARIO AND MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2010) - John Molson famously stated to his first employees that "we are all members of a larger community which depends on everyone playing a part." Fast forward to 2010 and this message still rings true within the halls of Molson Coors Canada, where today the company was named to Canada's Top 100 Employers list for the first time in its history, due in large part to its community involvement.

"If there's anything we're more passionate about than beer, it's the well being of our communities. Our commitment to 'Play our part' in the communities in which we live and work is unwavering, and provides a distinct competitive advantage for us in attracting top talent," said Dave Perkins, President and CEO, Molson Coors Canada. "As we get set to commemorate 225 years of brewing in Canada in 2011, it's rewarding to look back on the foundation we've built around people, brands and community. Our best is still ahead of us."

In the past year, Molson Coors Canada employees logged 3,711 hours of volunteer work, generating nearly $230,000 for some 200 important causes like WWF's shoreline cleanup, meal exchange (hunger) and the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Foundations, among others.

Another key milestone of the past year was the introduction of 'Our Brew', a new business philosophy and cultural compass that encourages every employee to take ownership in the company and its success. This is accomplished by asking them to adopt a challenger mindset, to serve as brand advocates and to take personal accountability for the work they do. The payoff of this new approach is clear: people say they understand the business better than ever and they're more engaged. In fact, the most recent Towers Watson employee satisfaction survey shows Molson Coors employee engagement scores have reached 86 per cent favorable since the introduction of 'Our Brew'. That's two points better than Towers' definition of a high-performing organization and a new record for the business.

""I've worked here nearly three decades myself, and I can tell you there's no place in Canada I'd rather be," said Perkins. "I'm humbled every day by the dedication of our employees and the indelible mark we've made on the landscape of Canada for more than two centuries. You just can't beat that."

In addition to being named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers, Molson Coors Canada has also recently been recognized as a regional winner of Waterstone Capital's Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures for Ontario and one of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces, by I Love Rewards.

Now entering its 11th year, Canada's Top 100 Employers is an annual competition to recognize Canada's best places to work. The project aims to identify the companies and organizations that lead their industries in attracting and retaining employees. To be included in the Top 100, companies must demonstrate their quality in terms of physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
