Molson Donates to Operation Red Nose and Food Bank and Celebrates Responsible Choices Across Canada this Holiday Season

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2007) - Molson is supporting communities across the country in their efforts to encourage responsible drinking this holiday season. The events range from sponsoring the complimentary New Year's Eve transit service in Ottawa to supporting Operation Red Nose in western and eastern Canada.

"Community involvement is a major part of Molson Heritage," said Brad Devarennes, Edmonton District Sales Manager. "Although the message is universal, local programs provide an avenue for a message direct to the consumer."

In Edmonton, Molson is donating $5,000 to Operation Red Nose. This important service provides an alternative for those who chose to make the responsible choice to not drink and drive this holiday season. "This is our way of celebrating everyone who chooses to make sure all their holiday memories are good ones," adds Devarennes.

Operation Red Nose provides a great alternative for those who chose to make the responsible choice to not drink and drive this holiday season.

"The organization offers a free volunteer driver service during the holiday season to motorists who have either consumed alcohol or who don't feel fit to drive their vehicle in general," explains Lezley Zwaal, Director of Operation Red Nose - Edmonton. "It is an original way to get home safe in one's own vehicle without having to drive... and the service is free. Volunteers and donations make the service happen, and we are in great need of volunteers! Volunteers must register in person before the end of the day, December 27, in order to help on New Year's Eve," continues Zwaal. Volunteers are encouraged to call 702-8000. In Edmonton, Operation Red Nose is sponsored by the Insurance Bureau of Canada.

Molson made the donation Saturday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. during its Food Drive at Hudson's in downtown Edmonton. Molson also made a $5,000 to the Food Bank.

"Edmonton's Food Bank is currently sitting at almost 40% of our food goal of 225,000 kilograms and almost 50% of our monetary goal of $650,000", said Marjorie Bencz CM, Executive Director of Edmonton's Food Bank. "This is an important time of year for the Food Bank as we raise food and money not only to support Edmontonians in need at Christmas but into 2008. We are pleased to work with Molson, Hudson's, and the Bear as our donations come in can by can and dollar by dollar. Without the community's help we could not do our work."

In addition to supporting the local efforts across the country, Molson is also launching a Web site dedicated to responsible choices: www.responsiblechoices.ca. Visitors to the Web site can get tips to help them make responsible choices and find out more about Molson's efforts in this important area.
