Molson Partners With Operation Red Nose to Promote "Don't Drink and Drive"

MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 29, 2006) - Molson is making three $5,000 donations to Operation Red Nose (ORN). One of those donations is taking place today at 1 p.m. at the Dundee Sports Dome.

The RCMP will also conduct an impaired driving demonstration. Media and guests will be invited to try fatal vision goggles and drive a golf cart along an obstacle course. This is intended to provide a more realistic experience of impaired driving.

"We are proud to partner with Operation Red Nose as part of our commitment to responsible drinking," says Jim Pomeroy, Brewery Manager, Molson Moncton Brewery. "Molson has always been a strong proponent of responsible drinking."

"Operation Red Nose wants to thank Molson for its contribution, which will help coordinate the Red Nose program in the Maritimes," says Marie Chantal Fortin, National Development Coordinator for Operation Red Nose. "We're very happy that Molson, through its 'Don't Drink and Drive' program, has joined the Red Nose family to promote non impaired driving and help make roads safer in Moncton during the Holiday Season."

ORN is a unique program dedicated to preventing drinking and driving. It is a volunteer driving service provided during the Holiday Season to all drivers who have either been drinking or do not feel fit to drive their vehicle. The service is free of charge and starts this Friday and Saturday in the Moncton area.

The service could not have been extended throughout the Maritimes without the help of hundreds of volunteer teams. The teams are comprised of three volunteers who provide a simple, accessible, and free way to get home safe. Last year, more than 1,600 Maritimers donned a red vest as a volunteer for ORN. Those interested in volunteering should visit the ORN website at and fill out an application. The Operation Red Nose telephone number is: 384-RIDE (7433).

Molson also raised over $1,600 during its monthly GIVE-R events last Friday. GIVE-R brings urban professionals together in a social networking environment to raise money for various local charitable organizations in the Halifax and Moncton. Molson Give-R events have raised over $28,000 for various charities in these two cities.
