Monsanto Canada Announces New Structure, Appointments to its Canadian Business

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Aug. 28, 2009) - Monsanto Canada today announced appointments to two, key leadership positions within Monsanto's Canadian business operation. These new roles were created as part of a larger, global restructuring announced by Monsanto Company in late June.

Ryan Baldwin has been appointed to the newly created role of President of Monsanto Canada's Seed and Trait Division. In this new role, Mr. Baldwin will be responsible for leading Monsanto's Canadian Seed and Trait operations in both Eastern and Western Canada, including reinforcing the long-term strategic importance of canola to Monsanto's overall Canadian business and leveraging the company's corn and soybean pipeline in Eastern Canada. He will continue to serve on Monsanto Canada's Leadership Team, which is comprised of key personnel from each of Monsanto's core business and enabling team functions; he will serve on Monsanto's Global Commercial Leadership Team; and he will also play an active role with Monsanto Canada's Grower Advisory Council.

Prior to this role, Mr. Baldwin served in the capacity of Sales Director for Western Canada and provided leadership to Monsanto's Canadian forestry business. Mr. Baldwin has been employed with Monsanto since 2003 and has held several positions of increasing responsibility over his career, including Chemistry Lead for Canada and National Sales Manager for the chemistry business.

Mr. Baldwin graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba in 1996 and is currently pursuing studies leading to an MBA from the University of Guelph. Ryan, his wife Erin, and three-year old daughter Rylie reside in Winnipeg.

Cory McArthur has been appointed to the newly created role of President of Monsanto Canada's Roundup® Division. In this role, McArthur will provide business leadership for Monsanto Canada's Roundup® division and continue to play an integral leadership role on Monsanto's Canadian Leadership Team.

Most recently, Mr. McArthur held the role of Marketing Director for canola and crop protection where he provided marketing direction for the company's crop protection and canola businesses in Canada. Over the past ten years, he has held numerous roles within Monsanto Canada including Manager of Monsanto's chemistry business in Western and Eastern Canada; Customer Strategy Lead; and Western Licensing Business Manager.

Mr. McArthur grew up in northeast Saskatchewan and received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He resides in Winnipeg with his wife, Laura.

Lisa Safarian - who previously served in the role of President and General Manager for Monsanto's Canadian business and lead Monsanto's Canadian operations - has relocated to St. Louis where she will be taking on the new role of International Product Management and Seeds and Traits Business Lead for Latin America North and Canada.
