OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 7, 2012) - Monster Canada (NYSE:MWW), a leading Canadian online job portal, is pleased to announce that it has collaborated with the Institute on Governance to launch a week-long Virtual Career Fair to help federal public servants impacted by work force reductions.
The Virtual Career Fair pilot project will allow affected federal public servants in thirteen participating Government of Canada departments and agencies to search for, and pursue, new employment opportunities using the powerful tools and expertise that only Monster can offer. Participating companies range from Mining to Security to IT to Finance with many other industries represented.
"The Government of Canada has some of the most highly skilled and talented people in the country," said Mike Jackson, director of professional services at Monster Canada. "Monster is uniquely positioned to work with private sector companies from coast to coast to help them access the tremendous talent coming out of the federal public service."
Federal government employees impacted by work force adjustment will be able to research and connect with organizations of interest, interact with potential employers, through telephone, instant messaging, videos and Skype and attend seminars and presentations by participating organizations.
"Monster's Virtual Career Fair is a platform that offers the same experience of a live fair in an online space, allowing employers to engage with interested job seekers quickly and conveniently", said Mr. Jackson, "by modernizing the recruitment approach with this new technology, Monster has enabled employers to be able to truly connect with seekers and have meaningful conversations about career opportunities."
The Virtual Career Fair pilot project will take place from September 17 to 23, 2012. It will run twenty-four hours a day in both English and French.
