Monster Media Strikes Gold, Steals Silvers at the Obies

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Apr 19, 2011) - Monster Media, leaders in out-of-home digital advertising, swept the most prestigious advertising awards when they won three coveted OBIEs -- one gold and two silvers.

The Outdoor Advertising Association (OAAA), announced the winners on April 13 in Miami during their annual convention and tradeshow.

Monster Media, Hayworth and CP + B received a gold OBIE in the "Special FX" category for their work on Kraft's smile detecting systems.

The impactful displays, promoting Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, were strategically placed in 10 major malls and storefronts across the country. These groundbreaking digital units used facial recognition technology to make the happy noodles smile back at the user. This type of facial recognition was a first for out-of-home advertising.

Accompanying their gold win in the "Special FX" category, Monster Media, Creature and OAG won a silver OBIE for an airport poetry execution for Windows Hotmail.

Through an exclusive partnership with Clear Channel Airports, Monster Media created the first ever multi-touch display of this size used in an airport environment. The massive LCD screens, showcasing Windows Hotmail, allowed users to access a word bank to create and submit original works of poetry through a simple touch. They could also view previously submitted poems for inspiration.

In the "Individual Execution" category, Monster Media and Olson secured a silver OBIE for implementing a larger-than-life virtual canvas for Target where pedestrians created digital works of art on the busy streets of NYC.

Lastly, Monster Media partnered with Kinetic, MEC and Y&R to employ an innovative brand experience for Xerox throughout nine top airports nationwide, earning them a finalist award.

This year's award marks the second gold OBIE for Monster Media. They previously received gold in 2010 for their work on an interactive storefront featuring ESPN's "Monday Night Football."
