Month of May, Bahamas' Best Kept Secret

IAAF World Relays, Baha Mar and Junkanoo Carnival, All Good to Go

NASSAU, BAHAMAS--(Marketwired - February 13, 2015) - With the summer months quickly approaching, The Islands Of The Bahamas are gearing up for some incredible and immensely authentic events. Like with all things, timing is everything; and if prospective travelers are wary and want to get the most Bahamian bang for their buck, then they should be looking to travel to Nassau from May 1 to May 9.

To kick things off in an invigorating fashion, is the IAAF World Relays to be held in Nassau, Bahamas from May 2nd-3rd. This is The Bahamas 2ndtime hosting this international test of athleticism and endurance. Nowhere else, save The Olympics, will onlookers be able to get a taste of the sheer unbridled sweat and glory involved with the elite sprint and middle distance athletes of the world.

The event will host more than 1000 athletes and coaches, representing 50 countries from around the globe. It also serves as a qualifying competition for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. So if you're in town and want to experience a burst of exhilaration, join these incredible men and women athletes for this high powered, exciting competition.

Up next is the grand opening of the Baha Mar, which will be the largest Casino resort in the Western Hemisphere and the most technologically advanced in the world. Spread out over 1000 acres of prime Bahamian ocean-lined beach, the Baha Mar will feature all the entertainment and culture of Las Vegas, surrounded by the finest tropical beaches in the world. The Baha Mar will offer all the usual recreational activities you might expect of a high-end luxury resort with the Casino blazing a trail. From shopping at designer stores such as Bvlgari, Cartier, Breitling and more, to enjoying some competitive rounds on a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and then maybe cooling off with some scuba diving in some of the world's clearest waters…the Baha Mar will be a true pearl of the world as it makes its global debut.

But that isn't all the Baha Mar will feature. The real gem of this 2,200 room resort will be a 100,000-square foot casino. If guests get hungry, they'll have 30 restaurants and bars to choose from. Want to relax and enjoy a show? The 2,000-square foot performing arts center will keep you entertained. Or maybe you just want to relax. Then rest up in a 30,000-square foot ESPA spa. No matter your pleasure, the Baha Mar will keep delivering. A monolithic resort such as this is sure to have one of the grandest openings of any, so make sure to book your spot as history is made.

Finally, rounding the festivities out from May 7-9 is the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival. (April 17-18, Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival will be held on Grand Bahama Island). Anyone who's been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras or experienced the mystique of Barranquilla will be blown away by this Bahamian party. But attendees beware, you will be forced to participate, and that isn't a request. The colors, music, excitement, flavors, and dancing will be the perfect way to experience true Bahamian culture and celebrate it! This is one event you don't want to miss.

So if you're making plans this summer and want to start it off the right way, make sure to kick it off in the Bahamas in May. You'll be glad you did. Your only problem afterwards will be not wanting to leave.
