Montreal Chapter of the National Committee for UN Women Undergoing Restructuring

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - April 29, 2011) - Due to ongoing initiatives to strengthen the Montreal Chapter of the National Committee for UN Women Canada, Chapter activities will be scaled back until a new professional leadership is recruited and its current resource base is expanded.

The restructuring of the Montreal Chapter will increase the Chapter's efforts in advancing women's empowerment and gender equality in Montreal and the Province of Québec. During this time, the National Committee for UN Women Canada will temporarily assume responsibility of the Chapter.

Almas Jiwani, President of the National Committee for UN Women Canada, expressed gratitude for the work of all Montreal volunteers: "While we go through this transition in leadership, on behalf of UN Women and National Committee board, I would like to express my appreciation for your commitment and efforts to the Montreal Chapter and to UN Women Canada."

The search for new leaders and volunteers for the Montreal Chapter has begun. A search committee will be meeting with candidates who display the right combination of skills, experience, and leadership capabilities to take the Montreal Chapter to new levels of performance.

The Montreal Chapter is looking for dedicated, bilingual individuals who wish to serve in the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary, as well as general volunteers.

All candidates interested in volunteering with the Montreal Chapter and furthering its vision of gender equality in Canada and Québec are encouraged to forward their cover-letter, resume, and references to the following coordinates:
