Montreal is Part of the 6th Action Week Against Racism

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 18, 2005) - The city of Montreal
is pleased to be associated with the 6th edition of Action Week against
Racism. The city councillor associated to the mayor responsible for
intercultural relations, Marcel Tremblay, is proud of the city's major
role in developing and promoting a number of activities throughout
Montreal. He is also pleased that the event will lead to reflection,
exchange, as well as raise awareness and help intercultural
rapprochement.

"Montreal's involvement in Action Week against Racism proves that the
city supports the principles of social inclusion. By promoting the
activities of Action Week, the city wishes to strengthen the sense of
belonging of Montrealers of all ethnic backgrounds and promote the fight
against racism on a daily basis," said Marcel Tremblay.

The city administration has already proved its commitment to fight
against racism. In 2002, the city council proclaimed March 21 as the
International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. "The
presence of citizens from all backgrounds is one of our city's greatest
assets. Diversity is the key to our future, and it is our duty to
respect human rights. To achieve this, our administration has made a
strong commitment at the 2002 Montreal Summit, to fight against racism
and exclusion," added Marcel Tremblay.

Mr. Tremblay thanked all the members of the organizing committee and
participants who are involved in the event, and invited Montrealers to
take part in the various activities and forums that will take place over
the next few days. For more information about the programming, please
