Montreal's First Vegan Festival is in Two Weeks

More than 1400 taking parts in the first Vegan Challenge

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 8, 2014) - After many big cities around the world including London, Portland, New York, Paris and Toronto, it is now Montreal's turn to host a Vegan Festival on September 26 and 27 2014, at UQAM.

With over two dozen conferences, round tables, cooking demos and over sixty exhibitors, the visitors will have the chance to discover the health, ethical and ecological aspects of veganism in an open, festive and inspiring context.

The world renowned Dr. Michael Greger, specialist in public health, will be doing the opening conference Friday evening on the 26 of September. The following day, it will be possible to hear for the first time in Quebec, Steve Jenkins and Derek Walter, the adoptive dads of the famous Esther, a young sow turned star in the social media, Thomas Lepeltier, journalist at the french magazine Sciences humaines and author of La révolution végétarienne, Ori Shavit, journalist, blogger and food critic in Israël.

Montrealers will also be able to learn to cook by attending one of the cooking demos with local and international chefs, happening all day with amongst others : french culinary photographer and author Marie Laforet, Stéphanie Audet, winner of multiple culinary awards, vegan chef Antonia Vargas, and Jacynthe René, actress, TV host and author of the book Vive la detox gourmande. A unique chance to see them on stage, sharing their culinary tips and tricks.

21 days of Vegan Challenge to feast and fill the energy tank for back to school

Montreal's Vegan Festival, with the support of an expert's committee in nutrition and doctors, is organizing a 21 day Vegan Challenge for all Quebecers curious to discover the benefits of a vegan lifestyle and the impacts of our food choices. The program is having tremendous success: more than 1400 peoples are taking part. A first group started the program Saturday September 5th and a second group will start on September 27.

2 days of activities to discover the various facets of veganism!

The opening conference with Michael Greger will be on September 26 at 7 PM at the Marie-Guérin-Lajoie auditorium in UQAM. The entry fee is 10$. On the 27th, the festival will be held at the Coeur des sciences of UQAM where the demos, conferences and the exhibitions will start at 10 AM. There is no entry fee and all activities are free for the whole day.
