MOON Continues to Promote Innovation and Collaboration at Successful Second Annual Summit

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Dec 4, 2014) -  MOON's second annual Summit was held November 9th through November 12th at the Public Hotel and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in Chicago, IL. Differentiating itself from other conferences in the veterinary industry, the MOON Summit focuses exclusively on C-level business education using an interactive, collaborative format characteristic of MOON.

This year's program centered around change and reinvention. Keynote speaker Jason Jennings, researcher and best-selling author of The Reinventors - How Extraordinary Companies Pursue Radical Continual Change, shared lessons from five companies that have successfully made change an integral part of how they conduct business. Other speakers included Scott Latham, PhD, professor at UMASS Lowell, speaking on value creation in a changing veterinary industry, and Tim J. Smith, PhD, an expert on pricing strategy, discussing value based pricing.

Another highlight was a very popular session titled MOON Boosters, where each member practice shared a program, product or service offering that has significantly impacted the practice in a positive way, allowing members to learn about solutions to common problems and find new ways to collaborate. In addition, there were a lot of opportunities to network, collaborate and have fun together. "This was the single best business experience that I have had. The culture and energy was amazing, and hard to find anywhere else," said Matthew Pearson, COO of IVG Hospitals in Boston, MA. "Actually, I would say that it was probably one of the best life experiences that I have had. The organizers of the MOON Summit have a passion for this and their ability to execute is amazing." As a result of this year's Summit, a new collaborative group focusing on Learning & Development was formed and plans for a series of workshops on value creation and pricing strategy are underway.

Attendance doubled from 2013 and attendees included practice owners and top-level managers from MOON member hospitals, invited guests from veterinary specialty hospitals, as well as thought leaders from within and outside the veterinary field. Taking an innovative approach to sponsorship, sponsors were invited to participate in the Summit along side attendees. This was aimed at developing deeper relationships between the practices and the vendors, tapping into the knowledge and expertise of our vendor partners, and to encourage more strategic partnerships.

Planning has begun for the 2015 MOON Summit to be held next fall.
