More Men Over 40 Having Cosmetic Treatments

NEWPORT BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 29, 2015) - Recently Fox news reported that the number of men opting for cosmetic surgery over 40 has jumped dramatically over the past couple of decades. Dr. Boris Ackerman, a Newport Beach plastic surgeon and owner of local med spa, reports that a large portion of his client base is now men. As a matter of fact, the number of men having cosmetic procedures has jumped by 273% over the past decade.

Dr. Boris Ackerman says, "Cosmetic surgery and other procedures has become very common on TV these days and this has helped influence the acceptability of having cosmetic procedures for men." Many men in their 40s and up are commonly having Botox® and injectable filler procedures performed. These procedures really help with wrinkles and can work wonders around the eyes. Dr. Ackerman says, "Many men at my med spa are having what has been coined the liquid facelift which involves Botox® and fillers like Juvederm. The procedure can easily take ten years off some of the patients we see."

Many men today are feeling the competition to look younger in the work place and in the dating world. In Southern California looking young is a priority for men. They work hard, work out hard and want to look their very best. Most men are looking for subtle changes and opting for injectables and small surgery procedures like neck liposuction and eyelifts.

The availability of non-invasive procedures with little down time is also a major factor for men deciding to move forward with these types of procedures. Most wrinkle reducing procedures, volumizing and fat transfer procedures have very little downtime and side effects. In addition, there is very little recovery time or bruising so most men can go about their normal activities following their procedure. The injectables leave no scars and are virtually undetectable immediately following the procedure.

Dr. Ackerman is highly acclaimed for his expertise and talent in facial rejuvenation surgery, advanced body contouring surgery and breast surgery. He has brought forth improved techniques in facial surgery using endoscopy and laser technology.

Dr. Ackerman has lectured widely in various public forums, and has been featured on TV, as well as in numerous publications. Dr. Ackerman's practice includes an on-site, state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center. His facility is certified by the The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities.
