More Than $209.7 Billion of Active Industrial Projects Present in U.S. Gulf Coast

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2013) -  Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- is tracking more than $209.7 billion in industrial projects that are under way or planned to kick off in 2013 and beyond in the U.S. Gulf Coast region. A substantial portion of this spending stems from the large amount of inexpensive natural gas entering the U.S. market from shale play production.

As U.S. natural gas production continues escalating, bringing an abundance of low-priced gas to the market, companies continue planning the construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains and export facilities. U.S. natural gas producers stand to gain tremendously by exporting LNG to overseas markets, such as Asia and Europe, where prices might be five times the current low U.S. natural gas price. As these projects unfold, Industrial Info is expecting a sharp rise in labor demand in certain areas of the Gulf Coast region.

Three industries dominate the project spending in the region: Power, Chemical Processing, and Oil & Gas Production (including LNG). Planned projects in these industries have a total investment value of $171 billion, representing more than 80% of total project spending in the region.
