More Than 30,000 Fans Attend Day 1 of CIS FINAL 8 Men's Basketball Championship, Presented by Milk

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 13, 2009) - In conjunction with Canadian Interuniversity Sport and Scotiabank Place, the host organizing committee for the 2009 CIS Final 8 Men's Basketball Championship presented by Milk this evening announced that a total of 30,790 fans attended the tournament's quarter-final sessions on Friday at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.

Four teams remain in the hunt for the W.P. McGee Trophy, which will be presented to the national champion following Sunday's final.

Results From CIS Championship quarter-finals:

Quarter-final #1: No. 2 Calgary 76 No. 7 Concordia 67

Quarter-final #2: No. 3 UBC 78 No. 6 Dalhousie 54

Quarter-final #3: No. 4 Western Ontario 75 No. 5 Ottawa 48

Quarter-final #4: No. 1 Carleton 94 No. 8 St. Francis Xavier 57

Saturday's semi-final games at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. are single elimination matchups with the two winners advancing to Sunday afternoon's championship game at 4 p.m. The consolation semi-final session takes place earlier on Saturday with games at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., while the lone Sunday session also features the fifth-place game at 12:30 p.m.

Single-session tickets, which include entry to both of an individual session's games, start at $10 per ticket. Each of the three remaining sessions (six games in total) take place at Ottawa's Scotiabank Place.
