More Than 6,200 Acres in 16 Southeast Georgia Counties to Be Auctioned

DUBLIN, GA--(Marketwire - March 4, 2010) -  More than 6,200 acres of timberland and hunting land in southeast Georgia will be auctioned in a sale so large it will be conducted by two major land auction companies and spread over two days. But the sale will be carried out using a format that places small and large buyers on an equal setting.

"In all, we'll be selling some 106 tracts, and the overwhelming majority of them are 100 acres or less. We'll use a format in which investors place bids on various combinations to form a property that best meets their needs, and it will sell in the combination that brings the highest total price," said Jim Woltz, president of Woltz & Associates, which is teaming with Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company for the event.

The land, which has been owned and managed by Rayonier for decades, will be sold in three sessions Friday, April 9, and Saturday, April 10.

The April 9 auction, to be held beginning at 10 a.m. in Waycross, will include approximately 1,581 acres in Charlton, Ware, Brantley, Pierce, Appling and Wayne counties. "This group includes pines, hardwoods, hunting properties, and land along scenic creeks, and all but three of the 31 tracts are less than 100 acres to make it easier for buyers seeking smaller amounts of land to participate," said Woltz.

The event on Saturday will be held in Dublin and will include two sessions. At 10 a.m., bidders will compete for approximately 1,464 acres, selling in 25 tracts, including 10 tracts of less than 50 acres. It will include land in Laurens, Emanuel, Tattnall, Jenkins and Burke counties. That land includes a large amount of loblolly pine and hardwood.

The second Saturday session will include the largest amount of land -- 3,119 acres selling in 50 tracts in Telfair, Laurens, Coffee, Irwin, Dodge, Pulaski and Wilcox counties. "This last group is heavy on loblolly pine," said Woltz.

"All 106 tracts have excellent access with road frontage. Many are close to cities and towns, adding development potential to the mix," said Woltz.
