Morrison Knudsen Awarded $36 Million Mine Engineering Contract

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - June 30, 2016) - The Blackstone Mining Group has awarded Morrison Knudsen a $36 million engineering, procurement and feasibility contract for its gold mining project at the Sheslay area of northwestern British Columbia. The contract entails engineering/design for the infrastructure, mining and process facilities and the construction of the roads and camp facilities at the site. Scope of work will include upgrading the existing roads and drainage for year round access to the site as well as eliminating the avalanche danger into the site. The company will further perform feasibility models for the most economically viable and most productive facilities for the eventual development of a world class gold mine.

"We look forward to developing a project like this as mining has taken a severe downturn lately," according to Dick Blanchard Senior VP of Mining Canada. "It's great to see they have the confidence in the market to start the development. It also marks our return to the area for the first time in almost 20 years. The Company has previously developed several gold, silver and zinc mines in the 90's in the Dease Lake and Iskut areas of northern BC."

Founded in 1912 Morrison Knudsen is a recognized world leader in heavy civil construction, energy, mining, transportation, power, defense, naval facilities; environmental clean up and engineering. Signature projects include the Hoover Dam, the Alaska Pipeline, the Kennedy Space Center and the Grand Coulee Dam. The Company has constructed world class projects in 62 countries and is a premier construction and engineering leader.
