Morvillo LLP Statement: Anil Kumar Receives Probation

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 19, 2012) - Today, U.S. District Court Judge Denny Chin sentenced Anil Kumar, a former director of McKinsey & Co., to two years probation based on his "extraordinary cooperation" in the government's prosecution of Raj Rajaratnam and Rajat Gupta.

Mr. Kumar's attorney, Gregory Morvillo of Morvillo LLP, who argued for probation for Mr. Kumar, issued the following statement:

"We are very pleased that the Court, US Attorney's Office and US Probation all thought so highly of Mr. Kumar's cooperation and the life he has led. Mr. Kumar's cooperation was indeed exemplary, and we are delighted that he received probation. It is also gratifying that Judge Chin recognized that Mr. Kumar was not motivated by greed. Judge Chin noted that 'this was aberrational conduct' and that Mr. Kumar 'has led a law-abiding and productive life.' The Court also commented that Mr. Kumar's cooperation was not driven by a desire for a light sentence but rather 'to make amends for what he did.'"

Most importantly, the Court's decision will allow Mr. Kumar to focus totally on his family and the many charitable and humanitarian endeavors to which he has dedicated so much of his life.

In representing Mr. Kumar, Morvillo LLP worked closely with co-counsel Paul Grand of Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason, Anello & Bohrer, P.C.
