Moscow Ballet Announces the Return of Their Great Russian Swan Lake to Canada

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2010) - "Elegant, exciting and breathtakingly beautiful," claims the Victoria Times of the 2007 sold-out production of Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Swan Lake.

This charming production announces its return to Canada for the second time only since its 2007 Canadian debut, performing in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg as part of their Recovery Acres (Calgary) Society charity tour.

Featuring Russian-born and classically trained ballerinas, this family-friendly US production company has a darling in Calgary, Alberta.

The Moscow Ballet Canadian tour is presented by Recovery Acres (Calgary) Society, one of Canada's most effective, non-profit, addiction treatment facilities. A portion of tour proceeds will support capital funding for the facility's needed $10M expansion project.

"Our partnership with Moscow Ballet is entering its fourth successful season," explains Recovery Acres (Calgary) Society Executive Director, John O'Reilly. "Not only is Moscow Ballet supporting us to reach our fundraising goals, but this unique partnership has introduced Moscow Ballet to Canadian audiences for the first time."

As one of the most revered ballets in the world, Swan Lake premiered over a century ago in Russia and remains a timeless classic, expressing a range of human emotions accented by Tchaikovsky's luminous score.

This version of Swan Lake is staged by artistic director Vladimir Troschenko, a former partner to legendary Russian ballerinas such as Nadia Pavlova, Ludmilla Seminyaka and Galina Mezentseva. Troschenko is an honours graduate of both the famed Bolshoi and Kirov academies.

Ticket prices range from $45-$140 and are now available through these participating vendors.
