Moscow Ballet's Western Canadian Charity Tour Brings Swan Lake to Edmonton

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Nov. 12, 2010) - On Monday, Moscow Ballet glides into Edmonton, charming audiences with their production of Swan Lake, November 15 & 16 at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium.

Featuring Russian-born and classically trained ballerinas, this delightful US production company will perform in more than 70 US cities over the next two months, with the inclusion of five Canadian cities: Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg.

The Moscow Ballet Canadian Tour is in its fourth year of succession, presented by Recovery Acres (Calgary) Society, one of Canada's most effective non-profit addiction treatment facilities. A portion of tour proceeds will support capital funding for the facility's needed $10 million expansion project; $2 million has been raised to date.

"Our unique partnership with Moscow Ballet has proven to be an enormous success," explains Recovery Acres (Calgary) Society Executive Director, John O'Reilly. "Not only is Moscow Ballet supporting us to reach our fundraising goals, but we have introduced Moscow Ballet to Canadian audiences; we're very proud to be diversifying the local arts scene."

As one of the most revered ballets in the world, Swan Lake premiered over a century ago in Russia and remains a timeless classic, expressing a range of human emotions accented by Tchaikovsky's luminous score.
