Most Businesses Have No Plan for Their Electronically Stored Information

SILVER SPRING, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 1, 2007 -- Organizations are vulnerable to the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) announced on December 1, 2006. "There are some aspects of the new e-Discovery rules that are positive, given the extremely ambiguous legal environment that exists for electronically stored information," says John F. Mancini, President, AIIM. "However, as is evident from results of our recent research, the expectation that the new rules create -- that organizations have control over their electronically stored information -- is problematic at best for most organizations."

As part of AIIM's mission to educate business and government end users, they are holding a free seminar on e-Discovery Thursday, March 8 at the Marriott Denver City Center. This seminar will help organizations of all types and in every industry learn why a plan for electronically stored information is not only a necessity, but an imperative.

During the full-day seminar, attendees will be part of an interactive, virtual courtroom that will illustrate typical problems a business may encounter, how these issues could impact the e-Discovery phase of litigation, and what would happen if the organization were to go to court. This is an opportunity for attendees to benchmark themselves against their peers when it comes to information management and policies/practices that keep them in compliance. Case studies will be presented throughout the day and time will be allotted to visit with solution providers, talk to industry experts, and network with other local end users.

"Being charged with bringing document management to my medical device manufacturing company, I wouldn't miss the AIIM seminar," states TK Train, Information Systems Administrator, Gambro US Products. "Every time I attend, I learn something new about electronic records, content, and their role in driving our business processes. Technology is advancing rapidly and attending this event directly helps me stay on top of it."
