Motapa Diamonds Inc.: Gabon Exploration Update

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 28, 2007) - Motapa Diamonds Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MTP) provides the following update on diamond and uranium exploration activities in Gabon:

Lebiri Diamond Project - Field sampling work commenced in early March and is focused on locating the source of both high abundance and high interest (i.e. diamond inclusion type) chromite anomalies in the south central part of the Lebiri permit area. A field laboratory has been established in Lastoursville to achieve rapid turnaround time on stream sediment samples such that high abundance kimberlite indicator mineral recoveries can be followed up within a matter of days. The objective of this work is to locate the kimberlite sources for these anomalies and gain a better determination of their economic potential than can be had from chromite analyses.

Uranium Option Agreement - Cameco Corporation and Pitchstone Exploration are formulating a 2007 exploration program and budget that will include radiometric prospecting, geological mapping and a variety of geochemical and geophysical orientation surveys.

Airborne Geophysical Surveys - The planned airborne magnetic survey for Motapa's diamond program, and the airborne magnetic-radiometric survey planned by Cameco and Pitchstone within the Franceville Basin, Gabon (see Oct. 2, 2006 News Release) has been delayed due to the survey contractor not being able to obtain permits to position aircraft fuel. The necessary permits are now in place and, in order to avoid the wet season, the survey has been rescheduled for May.

Motapa is among the leading diamond explorers in Africa and has interests in over 9 million hectares of diamond prospective properties located in Namibia, Lesotho, Zambia, Botswana, Gabon and Mozambique.

Pitchstone is an aggressive uranium exploration company with projects in the eastern Athabasca Basin, Saskatchewan and the Hornby Bay Basin, Nunavut and NWT.

Cameco is the world's leading uranium producer with production facilities in Canada, United States and Kazakhstan.
