Motricity and Matrix Semiconductor Accelerate Availability of High Quality Mobile Content; Companies Agree to Deliver Rich Mobile Content on Widely Used Memory Cards at Half the Cost

SANTA CLARA, Calif. & DURHAM, N.C.--(CCNMatthews - Sep 13, 2005) -

Accelerating the availability of high quality content for mobile devices, Motricity, the world's leading mobile content and solutions provider, and Matrix Semiconductor, the premier memory supplier to mobile content markets, today announced that the companies are working together to deliver high quality mobile content on Matrix® 3-D Memory based MMC and miniSD cards commonly used by mobile operators, handset manufacturers and retailers to bring rich content and multimedia applications to consumers. This announcement was made at the Mobile Content World Conference being held in Sept. 13-15 in London.

Through this relationship, high quality content from Motricity's catalog of over 600,000 mobile titles will be made available on Matrix's MMC and miniSD memory cards giving carriers, handset manufacturers and retailers greater opportunities to address growing demand for leading mobile content and applications. Compatible with the card slots on today's mobile devices, Matrix's memory cards hit price points up to 50% below standard flash memory, enabling a simple and cost-effective means to distribute rich content and multimedia applications to mobile devices. These easy-to-use cards support numerous formats and can be offered to consumers as a retail accessory, promotional item or multimedia capability packaged within the device.

"To meet wireless consumers' growing appetite, we are creating more opportunities for them to access leading content and personalize their mobile device," explained Larry Wallace, vice president of business development at Motricity. "Matrix's memory cards combined with Motricity's expansive catalog of mobile content make it easier for carriers, handset manufacturers and even retailers to offer consumers greater options and accelerate the adoption of new data services."

Complementing Motricity's ability to deliver content for a multitude of platforms, the Matrix MMC and miniSD cards are completely compatible with industry standards. These cards deliver easy-to-use, plug-and-play content to more than 3,600 devices, including mobile phones from Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and other market leaders. The number of compatible devices is rapidly expanding, making these memory cards the predominant memory formats for digital connectivity and the wireless industry.

"Our low-cost memory cards offer immediate advantages and practicalities to companies looking to bring compelling mobile content and multimedia applications to market," added Dan Steere, vice president of sales and marketing for Matrix Semiconductor. "With the memory capacity, security and programming flexibility the mobile content market requires, we expect our memory cards will continue to play an integral role in the end-to-end content solutions market leaders like Motricity have created. We are happy to be working with them on these new solutions."
