MoviePass Expands Executive Team With Hire of Former Hulu Customer Acquisition Exec

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Mar 26, 2015) -   MoviePass, the nation's premier movie theatre subscription service, today announced that Erantzeri Corona has joined the MoviePass executive team as VP Marketing, Customer Acquisition. Erantzeri formerly held a similar position at leading television-streaming service Hulu, and brings with him more than a decade's experience founding and playing pivotal roles in the growth and success of start-up companies.

At Hulu, Erantzeri was first responsible for conceiving and implementing subscriber engagement and retention efforts with a team that he built around those initiatives. He then headed acquisition efforts through multiple paid media channels, with a particular emphasis on mobile. He played an integral role in growing Hulu's overall subscriber base from 1 million to close to 7 million subscribers in the span of three and a half years.

"As an emerging brand that is setting a new standard for moviegoing, we're thrilled to have Erantzeri join our team," said Stacy Spikes, CEO of MoviePass. "At our core, we're an innovation company that seeks to make moviegoing cool, fun, and easy. We're excited to have a strong marketing leader in Erantzeri to help us communicate this message to movie lovers around the country."

The hiring announcement comes hot on the heels of MoviePass' partnership with AMC theaters to offer the U.S.'s first IMAX, 3D Premium movie theater subscription service, which is currently being trialed in Boston and Denver. MoviePass continues to offer subscriptions for standard movie formats on more than 90% of all screens in the U.S. This is a pivotal time for the industry as the consumer demand for a subscription model continues to swell. In a recent study conducted by PWC, 80% of moviegoers surveyed indicated they would prefer to pay for movie theater tickets via a subscription service.

"Consumer habits are changing rapidly and the subscription model is now being embraced across all media types and screens. It's very exciting for me to join such a dynamic team at such an opportune time in the movie industry's evolution," said Erantzeri.
